Local fire crews tackled a combine harvester fire in Coates yesterday afternoon (August 16).

The fire, found on Eldernell Lane, had spread to a stubble fire, but was extinguished by crews from Whittlesey and Stanground.

They used a thermal imaging camera to check for hotspots before putting the fire out with a hose reel.

A spokesman said: “The cause of the fire was accidental.”
