A FENLAND councillor proved himself capable of scaling new heights when he accepted a challenge from a group of youngsters.
Councillor Martin Curtis, a Whittlesey county councillor and Cabinet member for children, enjoyed an afternoon at Grafham Water and showed his support for the UProject - an activity based programme for young people who are leaving school at 16 and who aren't sure what to do next.
Young people from around the county are referred by schools, youth workers and connexions workers to take part in inspiring activities such as sailing, kayaking and climbing. They gain new confidence in themselves and get valuable advice on jobs, education and decisions affecting their future.
Cllr Curtis dropped by to talk to the young people, all from the Fenland area, and to join them on the challenging climbing wall.
UProject Co-ordinator Kim Jeffries said "The UProject has been really successful in raising the confidence levels and skills of the young people who get involved. We're thrilled that Cllr. Curtis came to see us and took on the wall!
