STAFF from Isle and Wisbech campuses scooped several major awards at The College of West Anglia's annual staff awards ceremony.

More than 100 guests, including family and friends of the award winners, were present at the event where 24 individual staff members and two teams from all four campuses were presented with certificates by college managers and governors.

This culminated an excellent year for the college, in which it became the first college of its kind in Norfolk and Cambridgeshire to achieve an "outstanding" grade in an inspection by Ofsted.

The awards were made to staff who demonstrated excellence in a range of different areas of the college's work and recipients came from all the campuses - Wisbech, Isle, King's Lynn and Cambridge.

Faith Peart and Linda Jellis from Wisbech won the award for Business Support Employee of the Year while Paul Mayer and John Buckle, course directors at the Isle Campus won awards for teaching and learning.

Other Wisbech-based staff to be recognised included Sally Brown, Brian Kendrick and Andrew England. Stella Groves received a Long Service Award for completing 25 years service at the Isle Campus.

The college's success in the area of apprenticeships was also recognised when the Work-based Learning team scooped Team of the Year and their manager, Susie Massen, was awarded Manager of the Year.
