CREATIVE residents donned colourful bonnets as Onyx Court in Wisbech celebrated Easter in style.

More than 40 residents of the sheltered housing scheme enjoyed the Easter bonnet competition organised by Roddons Housing Association staff.

Arthur Cracknell, 80, was crowned as the male winner, while 91-year-old Beatrice Pluck took first prize in the female contest. Both won spending money and vouchers.

The afternoon also featured entertainment from Darren Partington and a sing-along of 1950s songs.

Jackie Larham, from Roddons, said: “It was such a lovely event and there was a lot of laughter, chatting and singing. We received 18 entries - 17 from our ladies and one from Arthur. All entries were great!

“It’s wonderful to see everyone getting involved and discovering their creative side. And there were no losers - even if people didn’t win the Easter Bonnet competition, they could still try their luck at the prize draw raffle.”
