FENLAND Scouts Association held a reception in honour of retiring president Jack Chilvers.

Former leaders, district commissioners and the Mayor of Wisbech, Councillor Nick Meekins, gathered at the Gallery House in Wisbech for the event.

Mr Chilvers has been involved in scouting at local and district level for more than 50 years. He became treasurer of 14th Wisbech Scouts in 1957 and acted as district treasurer from 1977-1987.

In 1996 he was appointed president, whilst continuing to be involved with the group.

Mr Chilvers was presented with an engraved watch and pen and pencil set and his wife Kathleen received a bouquet and an orchid in recognition of his work.
