Fenland pupils raise £200 for Children’s Mental Health Awareness Week

Pupils at two Fenland schools, Anthony Curton in Walpole and Tilney All Saints, dressed in purple for the day to raise £198 for Children’s Mental Health Awareness Week.
The national event is to encourage children, young people and adults to celebrate their uniqueness and to be themselves.
The pupils all came in dressed in purple and, at lunch time, the cooks from the partnered schools dished up a purple cake for dessert.
Anne Senior, executive headteacher, said: “We realised that people might not own anything purple, so we also allowed them to dress in blue and red, as that makes purple when mixed together,
“We wanted to highlight how good it is for the children to have a positive view of themselves.

“We also wanted to show that while we cannot always change children’s circumstances, we can teach them the skills of how to manage whatever life throws at them, and to respect how we are all different from each other.”
