HE'S used to pounding the beat as a Police Community Support Officer in rural Fenland - but even Chris Lorraine will need to make a special effort for his next challenge.
The PCSO from Terrington Safer Neighbourhood Team is joining family and friends on a 93-mile walk along two historic Norfolk paths, to raise funds for the cancer charity which supported his grandmother before her death.
PCSO Lorraine, 31, from March, will walk the Peddars Way and Norfolk Coastal path from Knettishall Heath to Cromer in a group of four for Sue Ryder Care next month.
It's estimated that the walk, including rest stops, will take four days to complete.
PCSO Lorraine said: "Following the passing of our Nan, Eileen Blake, last year I thought it would be great to show some appreciation for the care and support that she and my family received from Sue Ryder Care.
"I have always wanted to walk the Peddars way and Norfolk Coastal Path so it seemed a good idea to do the walk and hopefully raise some money for a worthwhile cause at the same time.
"We plan to walk the whole route of 93 miles in four days - an average of 23 miles per day. As you can appreciate, this is a tough challenge taking into account the distance and terrain involved."
PCSO Lorraine will complete the charity walk on rest days from his day job, where he patrols 14 villages in West Norfolk. The walk starts on April 23.
