THE British Indoor Inline Roller Speed Skating Championships are to be held in Fenland next month.

And hopes are high that members of Wisbech Inline Roller Skating Club will bag a few medals and trophies after an impressive set of results in their race meeting in Spalding.

In category seven Connor Dack,10, came first in all three races, in category four Joe Adam Hardy, 12, came first in all three races and first again in the boys 10-12 age group race.

In category two Gary Evison finished third overall from his three races, and seventh in the senior men's age group race.

In category one James Ashby came first overall from his three races, and first in the senior men's age group race and Michael McInerney finished fourth overall from his three races, but was controversially disqualified in the senior men's race after a tussle with another skater.

In the Rat Race events for recreational unregistered speed skaters, team members Eve and Luci McInerney and Poppy Evison took part and won medals.

The trophies and medals were sponsored by the Hare and Hounds Hotel on North Brink, Wisbech.

The British Inline Roller Speed Skating Championships will be at Roller Village, Walpole Highway, on April 5.
