ALL 4,000 former council homes in Fenland - now run by Roddons Housing Association- are to be visited in the next three years and given an 'MOT'.
The housing association says each home will be inspected for faults and minor repairs will be carried out on the spot.
The first residents to benefit from the service will be in Chatteris and any minor repair work or health and safety work will be fixed instantly. All residents will receive a letter informing them of when their visit is due to take place.
Each home visit will take approximately one and a half hours and if there are minor works to be done, such as door handles needing fixing, they will be carried out there and then. If more major works are required this will be reported through Roddons' usual repairs service which will continue to run in the usual way.

The Home MOT service will also incorporate the handyman service which offers support with home tasks for the elderly and disabled. These jobs involve small non-repair jobs which help people to keep their homes in good condition.
Roddons' managing director Pauline Ford said: "The Home MOT service will enhance the service we provide to residents and ensure that any minor repairs are carried out before they become a problem. We hope that this investment by Roddons will ensure that our houses remain of the highest quality for our residents."
