FATHER and daughter Mark and Chloe Bonner, of Wisbech, were among 400 people who walked, jogged or cycled around a Cambridgeshire reservoir for Papworth Hospital.
Sunday’s event, on World Heart Day, was also designed to raise awareness about the importance of exercising to keep a healthy heart.
Participants walked, ran or cycled either a three, six or nine-mile course around Grafham Water reservoir. At the end they were presented with a goodie bag and medal.
Money collected through sponsorship by former patients, their families and friends, will go towards a target of 40,000 needed to buy two intra aortic balloon pumps.
The pumps help to decrease the workload of the heart and increase blood flow to the rest of the body, allowing a patient’s heart to rest and heal.
