THE Leader of Cambridgeshire County Council has promised to fight and reverse the Government decision to not provide funding for the College of West Anglia's March build.
Fenland councillor Jill Tuck said: "We will do all we can to try and reverse this decision and to make sure we, unlike Government, don't let our young people down.
"This will be a hard battle and if we are going to be successful we must all come together as a community and fight for the future prosperity of our young people and Fenland."
Government had previously promised through the Learning Skills Council to pay for the scheme and work had started when funding collapsed.
College and council chiefs had hoped they would be on the list of successful bids in last week's announcement, but have been left outraged after hearing that the Fenland scheme was not on the list.
Cllr Tuck described the news as "dreadful for Fenland, its young people and its future generations".
She added: "This decision by Government will deprive students from learning new skills and limit their future potential. Fenland's youngsters are bright, creative and want to learn and this Government decision is a bitter blow to us all.
