WITH campaigning for next month's General Election hotting up, the next few days offer the last chance for anyone not already registered to claim their vote.
Next Tuesday is the final day for getting new names on the Electoral Register. Applications must be in by 5pm that day.
The same deadline applies for anyone already registered who wants to have a postal vote. And anyone on the register who wants a proxy vote - getting someone else to vote on their behalf - must register by 5pm on April 27.
All the political parties are keen to maximise the turn-out on May 6. Young people aged between 17 and 24 are thought to be among those most likely to miss out because they have failed to register.
Anyone wanting to register, or to check whether they are already registered, should call Fenland District Council's Electoral Services team on 01354 654321 or email elections@fenland.gov.uk.
