DESPITE the dreadful weather a Fenland care home still managed to enjoy a summer fete on Saturday raising more than 500 for its residents.
Glenfield Care Home, in Money Bank, Wisbech, had to bring stalls inside and cancel a car boot sale due to the heavy rain.
Managers also escaped facing wet sponges in the stocks because of the day’s downpour but 523 was still raised for the residents’ comfort fund which allows staff to take more people on outings.
KJ Entertainments provided balloon modelling which proved a hit with staff and residents who have left various creations, including poppies and an aeroplane, around the home.
Birmingham Salvation Army Band then provided a boost on the Sunday by playing music in what turned out to be slightly nicer weather.
