ARMY cadets throughout Peterborough and Fenland areas have a new commander with the arrival of Major Ken Howard.
After three years in the 'hot seat', Major Tom Denton is taking up a staff role at Cambridgeshire Army Cadet Corp Headquarters.
Ken, 61, a retired fire officer from Bedford, joined the ACF in 1960 and has held many appointments including detachment commanderships and Regimental Sergeant Major and steadily through the ranks becoming a commissioned officer in 1995.
He is the holder of the cadet forces medal with three bars and is married to Linda.
Number 1 Company, Which Major Howard now commands, covers an area which includes eight active cadet detachments in Peterborough, March, Whittlesey and Wisbech.
The ACF is a national voluntary youth organisation sponsored by, but not part of, the Army.
