STAFF at a Fenland country store were so bowled over on Monday by the birth of a new lamb they named him after the former England cricket captain.
Allan the Lamb was the first to be born at the Skylark Country Store and Garden Centre on the outskirts of Wimblington. He was the smallest of three born and the only one to survive.
The mother, Penny, was a rescued ram from the nearby RSPCA Block Fen Animal Shelter, while the father, Bertie, is an award-winning black-faced ram.
The country store has also added a 15-year-old goat and another lamb to its ranks.
