Residents at a care home in Wisbech have been enjoying a sit and a chat in the garden thanks to a new bench, donated in memory of a former resident.
The new seat was bought after friends and family of Colin Malkin, who died on New Year’s Eve aged 82, donated money.
Colin, who had been at Langley Lodge for two-and-a-half years before his death, was a much-loved resident and ran a successful campaign to gain recognition for his four uncles – the Bruce brothers – who all died during World War Two.
His efforts saw a road in Wisbech named after them – Bruce Close.
Colin’s daughter, Jayne Reed said the bench is an “appropriate way to say thanks to the home, its staff and residents for the care and companionship they had provided to Colin in the last years of his life.”
