POLICE carried out an underwater search of a Fenland drain today after reports of a car being seen submerged in water.
Fire and rescue workers went to South Holland Drain at Green Dyke, Tydd St Mary, after the alarm was raised.
However tonight it was confirmed by Lincolnshire Police that the car, a red Nissan Bluebird, had been pushed into the water. An extensive search found no evidence of any body in the water.
The police also confirmed that the car's registration plates had been removed before it was dumped in the water.
