FORMER traffic cop Cyril Ayres admitted driving a Mercedes at 91mph along the Isle of Ely Way, at Chatteris.
Ayres, 64, of Kingswood Road, March, was fined £200 with £35 costs and a £15 surcharge, and had six points endorsed on his licence by Fenland magistrates on Wednesday.
Ayres told the court he had been driving a neighbour's car on September 6 last year, when he broke the 60mph speed limit.
It was his first offence in 48 years of driving.
"I was surprised at the immediate acceleration of the super-charged Mercedes which I had not driven before," he told the court.
