A dazzling array of wacky wigs will be on parade at Emneth Primary School next month to raise money for children with cancer.

The school has chosen CLIC Sargent as its charity of the year. They have already raised more than £420 for the charity through fundraising events, and they hope to raise a hefty sum more on Wig Wednesday.

Every day 10 children are told they have cancer and many will lose their hair through treatment. As a show of solidarity, on Wednesday May 20, pupils and staff will wear wigs.

Jackie Brenchley, teaching assistant at Emneth Primary School, said: “The children and staff are looking forward to taking part in Wig Wednesday in May. There will be some fantastic hairstyles to look out for.

“We have several fun events planned over the next few months and hope to reach our target by the end of the academic year.

“Our school is amazing at fundraising and we all feel very proud to be helping children with cancer this year.”

CLIC Sargent Fundraising Manager Karen Roberts said: “The staff and pupils have already raised a fantastic amount for CLIC Sargent through their fundraising and we can’t wait to see the colourful display of wigs.”

The funds raised from Wig Wednesday provide vital support for families, including social workers and nurses who can visit children at home and provide support and free accommodation near hospitals during treatment.
