The Elm Charity Christmas Lights came to a halt last weekend after three Thomas Clarkson Academy students pulled out the electrical wires.
Organisers have now discovered the students caused more damage than they originally thought - £30-40 worth of stock has been damaged.
The students in uniform have brought the charity event to a complete standstill, forcing the organisers to turn off the lights until further notice.
In a Facebook post, an organiser said: “We are sorry, but due to the recent vandalism, it has caused more damage than we initially thought – we are doing our best to get our display working safely and back on.”
Shortly after the damage was discovered, organisers were passed information of the students involved and released a full statement on social media with a description of the pupils – two male and one female.
“If the parents read our post, they would be able to figure out the description given for Friday.
“I have not contacted the school simply because if we get the same support we tried to encourage from our primary school, we would simply get no interest.”
