Cabin crew staff took time out from flying around world to speak about the benefits of learning other languages.

As part of Thomas Clarkson Academy’s Language Enterprise Day, a team of EasyJet cabin crew spoke to students about how languages can help their future careers.

Lynsey Rankine, EasyJet cabin manager, said: “We were really pleased to be asked by the academy to come along to talk to students about the benefits of speaking more than one language.

“Being multi-lingual can have huge advantages for anyone working in the airline industry, as not only does it make speaking to customers easier but it will also be reflected in your salary.”

Leader Imogen Newell, who helped organise the Big World, Big Ideas Enterprise Day, said: “The purpose was to make those who already speak more than one language realise the value of that skill and also to encourage those who don’t to consider languages as a study option or later career path.

“It was a fantastic day, and the whole school became switched on to languages.”

To finish off the day, Year 8 students watched a fashion show where students modelled the national dress from a number of countries.
