A main road through Outwell was closed for several hours yesterday after a car left the road and nearly ended up in the river.
Police and emergency services closed the A1122 Downham Road through the village in both directions whilst they dealt with the incident.
The incident happened just before 8.30am and the car, thought to be Audi, left the road and slipped down an embankment. It came within inches of toppling into the river.
It happened between Langhorn’s Lane and Mullicourt Road but no one is thought to have been injured.
Traffic police re-opened the road later in the morning once the vehicle had been safely recovered.
