A SUNDAY afternoon driver who gave an alcohol reading almost four times the legal limit has been given a 12 week suspended jail sentence
Fenland magistrates also banned Sigitas Uzdavinys from driving for two years, ordered him to carry out 200 hours community work, and he must pay 85 costs.
Fenland magistrates heard how Uzdavinys was stopped by police in Churchill Road at Wisbech, at 4pm on January 17, after he had gone out to buy more booze
"He smelled of intoxicants. He gave a test reading of 114 mcgs of alcohol in 100 mls of breath," said prosecutor Andrea Fawcett. The legal limit is 35 mcgs.
Uzdavinys, 35, of Sybil Road, Wisbech, had admitted drink driving.
"He exercised bad judgement," said Oliver Barrett, mitigating. "Apart from the high reading there were no other aggravating factors, there was no accident, and he pulled over for police straight away.
