DETECTIVES hunting the killers of a man who died after the van in which he was sleeping in, was set alight, are set to appear on Crimewatch.

The team has been in discussions with programme-makers and are set to make a TV appeal for information in to the death of Lithuanian Dainus Kigas.

It is now more than six months since the body of married father-of-three Mr Kigas, 35, was discovered in his van in Wisbech on Saturday June 3.

Now Det Chief Insp Jim Bambridge said there are plans for an appeal to be made on the BBC crime show in the new year.

He said: "We hope to appear on Crimewatch and this will hopefully include a reconstruction of Mr Kigas' last journey from Lithuania into the UK.

"We hope this will reach out to wider audience and encourage people who may be from outside the area, but who knew Mr Kigas, to come forward."

The investigation into Mr Kigas's death still continues and earlier this month officers carried out a leaflet drop in the town of Wisbech in the hope that new witnesses may come forward.

Det Chief Insp Bambridge said inquires still continued into the murder, but due to the nature of translation issues surrounding this case, everything took much longer than a standard investigation.

Mr Kigas's body was found in a burned out Renault Trafic van in Turnpike Road.

A dedicated phone line is still in use and an interpreter is available for anyone who wishes to speak to the police about the inquiry.

Mr Kigas travelled to the area frequently through his job as a courier.

The dedicated phone line is 01354 606562 or those with information can also call the Operation Horsford team on 0845 4564564.
