A TASTE of Hollywood came to a Fenland waterway at the weekend when filming for a new Hollywood blockbuster took place.

Camera crews descended on Sutton Bridge to shoot scenes for the film The Golden Compass.

However anyone hoping to catch a glimpse of its Hollywood stars Nicole Kidman and Daniel Craig were sadly disappointed.

For the pair were not on set as filming was only for scene shots.

The crews were on location to film the town's swing bridge opening and closing as it allowed a barge to sail through.

The filming was for specialist scenes in the new blockbuster, which is an adaptation of the first instalment in author Philip Pullman's best selling His Dark Materials trilogy.

But the filming did cause traffic chaos for motorists travelling between the Lincolnshire and Norfolk border as the as the road across the bridge was closed for short periods during the filming.

Susan d'Arcy, publicist for the film said: "The film will open next November and we are filming all over Britain."

She said the location manager had visited a number of venues up and down the country, but Sutton Bridge had been picked as an ideal location for the film.

EM Media helped to find to find the location at Sutton Bridge after being contacted by the film's location manager.

Craig, who will star as James Bond in the upcoming Casino Royale, will play Lord Asriel - a ruthless adventurer with a mysterious past. He joins the film's ensemble cast which includes Nicole Kidman, Eva Green and newcomer Dakota Blue Richards.

The Golden Compass revolves around a young girl who travels to the far north to save her best friend. Along the way she encounters shape-shifting creators, witches and a variety of otherworldly characters in parallel universes.
