NEARLY 1,700 people have so far given us their voting intentions for the 2009 Cambridgeshire County Council elections.

And the results, so far, confirm the Conservatives in front but there is currently a strong support for Labour, which is in a comfortable second place.

Liberal Democrats are trailing in third place, and other parties- and independents- have so far collected only a handful of supporters.

The poll is being conducted on three of our websites which cover Cambridgeshire, www.wisbechstandard24.co.uk, www.cambstimes24.co.uk, and the county wide, www.cambs24.co.uk

Full results of the poll as of May 15:

Conservatives 743

Labour 527

Liberal Democrat 245

UKIP 52

Independent 38

Green Party 19

Don't know 31

However with the Daily Telegraph revelations continuing to cause major upheaval at national levels - and with some Cambridgeshire MPs coming into the limelight over the expenses issue- it could all change next week.

No political party in Cambridgeshire is yet to indicate their thoughts on any fall out locally among voters in the county council elections.

The latest poll results will be updated next week.
