The knife, which appears to have a blade of around three inches, was found by volunteers from the Oasis Community Centre, who were carrying out a litter-pick along Cherry Road on Monday (January 9).

“It looks to me as if it could have been used, which is worrying due to recent events in the town,” said Cllr Clapp.

“People definitely need to be more vigilant as we also found a lot of needles down there.”

The knife has since been removed from the scene and is due to be collected by police.
