Comedian Jim Davidson OBE may have been banned from a Peterborough entertainment venue, but just 20 miles down the road in the Fens, he is more than welcome, when he plays a stand up show next year.

The comedian, renowned for switching from family-friendly TV persona to turning the air blue when off the box, will be at the GER Club in March in January 2020.

He has been booked to play an over 18s hog roast and comedy night at the club on Saturday January 25 with tickets costing £40 a head.

Earlier this year, Davidson was banned from returning to the Cresset in Peterborough venue after allegedly being rude to audience members.

According to The Stage magazine, The Cresset team claimed he would not be welcome back for a number of reasons, but “mainly the fact he was rude to customers before and after the show” in the foyer on February 6.

The Cresset said they received complaints about his behaviour and seeing as he doesn’t appear to enjoy his time there, ‘reluctantly, it is better if he doesn’t put himself through the agony any more.’

Davidson said he had experienced issues working at the venue.

He told The Stage that the sound system was appalling and by the time he came off at half-time, of a two and a quarter hour set, he was in agony with his throat.

The audience were freezing cold and jammed in, he said, and it was obvious The Cresset did not care if he was there or not.

He said: “I phoned my agent saying ‘I’m not going to the Cresset anymore’. He said ‘don’t worry about that, you’ve been banned’.”

He denied being rude to audience members.

Davidson has won three Showbusiness Person of the Year Awards and career highlights include five trips to the Falklands Islands to perform for serving soldiers.

In 1999 he set up a fund to promote the well being of service personnel and is chief executive of his charity, Care After Combat, which supports those battling alcohol addiction after serving in the forces.
