College of West Anglia Isle Campus’ construction students enjoyed a guided tour of a construction site, which will soon be the new teaching block.

The tour, led by representatives from R G Carter, was designed to give students a greater understanding of modern construction techniques and the realities of working on site.

They went through a full site induction including health and safety and an overview of the planned building works.

RG Carter site manager Paul Davis said: “The tours are only a small part of RG Carter’s work with the college and its students and we hope to build on this relationship in the future.”

Programme manager for technology at CWA’s Isle campus, Alan Seeley, said: “The opportunity for our students given by RG Carter cannot be replicated by tutors in the workshops.

“The tours are not only informative, but also inspiring to the next generation of construction workers.”
