A college has teamed up with an interiors company to provide career opportunities for construction students.
The partnership between the College of West Anglia (CWA) and SCL Interiors, based in Downham Market, is already baring fruit.
Last year, the business provided opportunities to eight students, who hope to gain full-time employment.
Contracts manager Andrew Golding said: “The college has produced a number of enthusiastic trainees who have demonstrated an interest in the construction industry.
“They are conscious of employer expectations and are ready to venture into the world of full-time paid work.
“In our experience the students who have studied at CWA are ready for work and have the skills employers are looking for.”
Alan Seeley, Programme Manager for Technology at CWA, said: “It’s beneficial for our students to talk to local businesses such as SCL Interiors and gain real work experience.”
The college is working with more than 600 local businesses and has more than 1,000 apprentices in training across several sectors.
