A spokesman said: “We seek to keep owner and pet together for as long as possible with the help of a national network of volunteers who assist when day to day pet care poses a problem.

“We are desperately looking to assemble a team of volunteers in Wisbech, particularly the Emneth area, to help take two lovely dogs out for some walks as their owner has sadly been unwell and unable to take her marvellous companions out.

“We have a plethora of new requests from elderly or chronically ill residents from your area who approach us looking for our help finding like minded dog lovers to take their beloved pets out for much needed walks and so enable them to keep their furry family members with them for as long as possible.

“Our aim is to relieve owners of worry concerning the welfare of their pets both during and after their own lifetime.”
