STUDENTS in Fenland were invited to take part in a one-day child safety workshop at Wisbech Fire Station.
It taught the students, including young parents, a variety of safety, first aid, road safety and health and safety skills.
This included advice on how to spot potential fire hazards in the home that could harm their children, first aid for babies and pre-school children and how to correctly install a child car seat. Parents were also shown the dangers of using chip pans.
It was staged by Cambridgeshire Fire and Rescue Service, in conjunction with Cambridgeshire County Council's road safety team. Motoring supplier Halfords donated money off vouchers for car seats for the students to use.
Firefighter Rob Wabe said: "This workshop has enhanced the child safety knowledge that these young people already have."
One young learner who took part in the workshop said: "It was a very helpful day, everything we did will stay with me forever.
