Centenarian Nell helps open the fete at Strathmore House in Elm

NELL Shailes had celebrated her 102nd birthday just a day before she helped the Mayor and Mayoress of Wisbech to open the annual fete at Strathmore House.

Mayor and Mayoress Nick and Sara Meekins presented Nell with a bouquet to congratulate her, and then spent an afternoon looking around the stalls and chatting to residents.

“We raised £671 for the residents’ comfort fund, and had a fantastic afternoon,” said administrator Lorraine Bridgement.
