A VIDEO camera mounted in an unmarked police car was used to track a speeder who went round a roundabout three times in the early hours of the morning.

Officers followed Jose Moreira as he drove along Churchill Road, Wisbech, at 52mph through the 30mph limit, overtaking a van and failing to reduce his speed at traffic lights.

"He did stop, although he could have lost the police down a side street," prosecutor John Masters told Fenland magistrates.

"He stood in front of the camera on the police vehicle so they could get identification."

Moreira, of Wisbech Road, Outwell, admitted speeding on April 22, telling the court he had thought he was being followed.

He was fined £50 with £60 costs and six points were endorsed on his licence.
