Cambs ghost-hunters out to uncover ‘paranormal secrets’ of The Hippodrome, March

CAMBRIDGESHIRE Supernatural Investigators (CSI) are preparing to explore past and present stories of paranormal activity at The Hippodrome in March.

The group will use night-vision goggles, sound detectors, infrared equipment and thermometers to look for changes in the atmosphere of the building, which has stood since 1939.

CSI have been given “access all areas clearance” to investigate The Hippodrome, which is now home to a Wetherspoon’s Pub, on October 13.

Becky Cooper, co-founder of CSI, said: “We wanted to do something in March and we chose The Hippodrome because it is a beautiful old building with some great stories, so we are hoping to uncover some paranormal secrets.

“We will be doing experiments that everyone can take part in. The best thing we have ever found from our investigations is a full body at an American Airbase in Bury St Edmunds last November, but we don’t expect to find that in March.”

Becky and her business partner Vivien Powell set up the society in September last year.

They are a non-profit organisation and all funds from this event will go to CLIC Sargent - a charity for children with cancer which is supported by Wetherspoon’s.

Becky said: “We don’t take any money for our investigations, we just do it for the love of it.

“CLIC Sargent is a fantastic charity that helps many people each year. All our profits for this event our going to them as requested by Wetherspoon’s.”

CSI host an event at the Cross Keys Hotel in Chatteris on July 7. They will also be in Ely next month, although a date is yet to be confirmed.

There are 30 tickets available for the event, priced at �25. There will also be a raffle and CSI are asking for prizes to be donated.
