A 10-PART documentary series focusing on Cambridgeshire police is set to start on Monday.

Cop Squad - which will be screened on Sky One at 9pm - will give viewers an insight into policing in Peterborough, Cambridge, and Huntingdon, alongside the county’s rural towns and villages.

Along with the usual drunk and disorderly problems on a Friday and Saturday night, Cop Squad also takes a look at the less visible side of policing: from the analysts who piece together intelligence around offenders, to the special constables who swap their day jobs for frontline policing.

Assistant Chief Constable Mark Hopkins said: “We agreed to film with Cop Squad because we wanted to show members of the public the kind of work we carry out on a daily basis.

“People often associate the police with locking up troublemakers on a Friday or Saturday night, but we also do a lot of positive, proactive work that can go unnoticed.

“The series will give viewers a fascinating insight into this less obvious side of policing by following work on incidents and crimes issues including road collisions, drugs raids, tracking down wanted people and undercover operations to tackle prostitution.”
