A Cambridge fellow was the speaker at Wisbech Grammar School’s first twilight talk of the year.

The Rev Philip Hobday, the dean of chapel and director of studies in theology at Magdalene College, asked a 70-strong audience if religious faith was irrational and whether it was necessarily in conflict with science.

The school’s deputy head of sixth form, Jane Missin, said: “This talk was very thought provoking and engaging, and Mr Hobday encouraged the members of the audience to re-evaluate the way they view faith and science.

“The pupils showed a great willingness to participate in the debate, with some very thoughtful questions.”
