WORK on upgrading the lighting in the car park of the Horsefair Shopping Centre in Wisbech will start on Monday (August 16).

The work which is being carried out in the ground floor car park will take up to five weeks to complete. While the car park will remain open some sections of the ground floor may be closed for short periods of time.

Horsefair manager Kevin Smith said: “As a centre we are always looking at different ways to reduce energy consumption and the new lighting will certainly make it a lot more energy efficient, whilst creating a brighter environment for all the users of the car park.”

The new lighting will drastically reduce the amount of power used when the car park is closed , helping to reduce the centre’s overall levels of energy use and make a significant reduction in power usage during opening hours.

The Horsefair car park is free to use for up to two hours by displaying a ticket which can be collected form one of three machines within the car park. Those who use the long-stay parking bays on the top floor will be charged 1 for up to three hours or 3.50 to park all day.
