Wisbech has celebrated winning its ninth Britain in Bloom Gold Award and two Green Flags by handing out awards to the residents, businesses and allotment sections that helped the town scoop the prestigious accolades.

The town’s group of floral fans met at Wisbech Institute on September 22 to receive awards from Wisbech in Bloom, with Denise Balusszeski taking home the top award on the night for the best overall residential garden.

She also scooped the best large in town display and the cottage wildlife display award, while Pauline Hollman was presented an award for the best small in town display.

Upwell resident Sylvia Plaice won the best out of town award for her display in the village, while Mr and Mrs Bellenes of Wisbech St Mary won the best small out of town display.

Mr and Mrs Bellenes also won the best hanging basket and container garden prize.

In the business section, the Rising Sun pub in Wisbech won the best pub front, while the Locomotive pub won best retailer.

Mr and Mrs. Bernard won the best residential award, while the best non-residential display went to the St Raphael Club.

Eric Somerville was given the Wisbech Society award, the best community garden award went to Octavia View and R. J. Warren won the Wisbech Town Cup.
