CHATTERIS: Evidence of a big cat roaming Fenland was left along a gravel track behind homes in Chatteris - and spotted by Joan Peacock.

"I let my dog outside on Saturday evening at about 11pm and she started barking near the wire fence at the back of the garden," said Mrs Peacock, of Queensway.

"I thought it was something like a domestic cat or maybe even a hedgehog walking around, so called her back to the house and thought nothing of it. I could not see or hear anything.

"But when I took her out yesterday (Sunday) I saw these marks and started wondering whether she saw something else like this big cat people have been talking about."

WISBECH: The company hoping to build up to 400 flats and houses alongside the River Nene, Wisbech, confirmed today (Mon) that the development had stalled.

Taylor Wimpey confirmed the exclusive revelation by the Wisbech Standard that they had entered talks with Fenland District Council over their proposals for the town.

The company is a key player in the £50 million Nene waterfront regeneration project and despite other parts of the scheme forging ahead- including the new £3.5 million Boathouse business centre- no work has started yet on any of the homes.

"In light of current market conditions, we are currently reviewing the plans for the Nene waterfront development," said a spokesman for Taylor Wimpey.

This was to "ensure they are commercially viable and will meet customer demand."

Fenland Council had confirmed to the Wisbech Standard that negotiations were going on with Taylor Wimpey and say it was a situation "we anticipated and we are prepared for."

NORFOLK: It's a new financial year and a new look for Norfolk Constabulary...

From tomorrow , Norfolk's three existing policing areas are replaced with one territorial policing area known as the County Delivery Unit.

The change heralds a new way of policing that will deliver a consistent service right across the county - with enhanced front-line services working to provide local solutions to local problems.

The new structure is complimented by the Constabulary's new visual identity -a refreshed force crest and new strap-line "Our Priority is You", which will be phased in over the coming months.

Chief Constable Ian McPherson said: "Our aim over the next three to five years is to provide an ever professional, flexible and dedicated police service to the people of Norfolk.

"Our end game and how we reach that is the basis of our Vision, Pledge and Principles. The introduction of the County Delivery Unit is the first major step towards this."

The fresh look will also see changes in police uniform, with the introduction of a black 'wicking' shirt for operational officers, light-weight trousers and a new style high-vis police blouson.
