ONE man was arrested on suspicion of possession of class A drugs this morning after police raided three Wisbech properties.

The man is being interviewed at Wisbech police station after being taken away from Admirals Drive bungalow in a police van at around 10am.

Police found a small amount of drugs at his home and searched another bungalow on the same road and a property on Worcester Road, about half a mile away, at the same time.

Police forced their way into the three properties at around 8.30am.

Nothing was found at the second Admirals Drive home and a small amount of drugs were found at the Worcester Road address but nobody was arrested.

Sergeant Dave Bax said: "We decided to raid all three properties at the same time, but they are not linked in any way.

"The arrested man will be interviewed and charges may follow.

"I can't say what the drugs are at this point or say how much was found as they are being sent away for analysis.

"I hope this morning's raids show people that we will continue to get drugs off the streets of Wisbech and act on any information that the public gives to us."

One resident of Admirals Drive, who asked not to be named, said during this morning's raids: "This looks like a nice quiet area but there has been quite a large amount of anti-social behaviour here in the past.

"Every garage on the estate had been broken into and kids would come here and kick bins over and generally cause a nuisance.

"But there hasn't been any trouble for the last couple of years so it is very surprising to see all this police activity here this morning.
