AN armed response unit was called to a house in Wisbech on Saturday following reports of a man seen brandishing a firearm.

Police confirmed today they went to the house in Hazel Gardens off Norwich Road shortly before 5pm and spoke to a man who was later discovered to have three shotguns in his home.

A police spokesman confirmed the man was arrested at 6pm for suspected breach of the peace but he was released at midnight without charge. No further action is planned.

Police said they were contacted by a member of the public who believed the man was a potential danger to himself and others.

The man had licences for legal possession of all three shotguns.
