Anti-social behaviour and burglary the priorities for Wisbech and District after panel meeting

ANTI-social behaviour and burglary were highlighted as key issues at the Wisbech and District panel meeting on Thursday.

The priorities set for the next three months were:

• Anti-social behaviour in Park Road, Wisbech

• Burglary on Weasenham Lane Industrial Estate, Wisbech

Community Engagement and Crime Reduction Manager Trevor Bracken said: "The members of the public present were able to hear what activity police had taken in respect of the previous priorities.

"Residents praised the recent gating and closure of Ghost Passage, a notorious anti-social behaviour and graffiti hotspot and thanked all agencies involved in this positive action.

"They also issued concern about the anti-social behaviour of young people in Park Road, whilst councillors highlighted burglaries on the Weasenham Lane Industrial area as a problem.

"The next meeting, under its new title of the `Wisbech Community Fair' will be at Thomas Clarkson Community College from 5pm on October 8."

At the previous meeting three months ago concerns were raised about inconsiderate parking outside Elm Primary School and Friday Bridge Primary School and anti-social behaviour in the area of Troughton Way, Leverington and Goodens Lane, Newton.

Police have taken the following steps to resolve these issues:

• Patrols have been carried out by police officers and PCSOs in the areas highlighted.

• PCSOs targeting inconsiderate parking in areas of concern.
