A TWELVE year-old who cares for her disabled mum could be named as Cambridgeshire's young person of the year.
Even though Aline Johnson, of Lindens Close, Thorney Toll, spends the day at school, she still finds time to care for her wheelchair-bound mother at evenings and weekends.
Aline's tasks include cooking meals, cleaning the house and assisting her mother when going to the bathroom.
But more importantly, the Neale Wade Community College pupil lifts her mum's spirits by putting on her make-up and by staying positive.
She was nominated for Cambridgeshire Police's Young People of the Year title after her parents described her as a "godsend and precious child in more ways than one".
Aline said: "When mum and dad are down, I make them laugh by making jokes about things.

"Sometimes it makes me feel sad. I get over it by going out with my best mate and playing in the street behind our home."
Aline's mother Sherey, 48, suffers from neurological problems, arthritis, brittle bone disease, curvature of the spine and extreme vertigo.
The 48-year-old is also partially sighted, hard of hearing and has to use a wheelchair. She cannot be left alone in case of a vertigo attack.
Her condition is deteriorating but Aline often takes full responsibility for her mum's care when her dad is out.
She also helps him cook meals and do things around the house.
Dad Reg Johnson, 45, said: "She is invaluable to us."
Mum Sherey said: "Aline makes the quality of my life so much better. I am eternally grateful.
