A Parson Drove primary school has been described as “vibrant and welcoming” in a glowing Ofsted report.

Alderman Payne Primary School on Main Road received another ‘good’ rating following a short inspection by inspector Julie Harrison last month.

In a letter to headteacher Sue Blyth, she said: “You and your staff ensure that the school is vibrant and welcoming.

“Your high expectations are shared by everyone. Staff, governors and pupils are proud to be part of this small village school.

“Together, you ensure that pupils make good personal and academic progress.”

She also said that teaching remains a strength, pupils have a positive attitude and that the school has developed leaders through effective training and best practise.

In order for the school to become ‘outstanding’ it must offer more opportunities to develop English and maths and improve communications with parents.

The school has around 100 pupils aged four to 11 on the roll. Its last full inspection was in November 2012.
