Barnacle bitten land lubbers at a Wisbech primary school were prepped as pirates for a special fund raising event for Children in Need day.

The youngsters at Orchards Primary dressed up as scurvy pirates to help bring in £210 for charity.

In the run up the national fund raising day the youngsters learnt about pirates by writing stories, reciting poems, reading novels and learning pirate historical facts.

Headteacher Nicola Parker said: “We had covered a lot of topics with a pirate theme and decided to tie it in to hold a pirate Pudsey day which was joined by Pudsey himself courtesy of our friends at Asda.”

“Pupils had a fabulous time. “

Children were encouraged to design their own t shirts for a prize competition.

The night before the school held a pirate disco which raised £155 for school funds to buy new books for the school library.
