An SOS plea has gone out to find volunteers in Wisbech to befriend people feeling lonely and isolated.
The call has come to be part of the Age UK Cambridgeshire Sharing Time Scheme, which offers support to people who are lonely and isolated in later life.
Age UK has a waiting list of clients in Wisbech and is keen to hear from people who can volunteer their time to help.
A spokesman for Age UK said: “Volunteers play an important part in helping to support and enhance people’s lives in many ways and they in turn receive satisfaction from the role.
“Each volunteer can make a difference by visiting someone once a week for an hour. It could be for a chat, cup of tea, game of cards or perhaps a trip out.”
