A father and daughter who have helped build Tydd St Giles Golf & Country Club, Wisbech into a multi-million pound golf and leisure homes complex are to step down.

Adrian Hurst, managing and operations director, and his daughter Jodie, announced that they resigned from their roles at the company on May 31.

Mr Hurst said: “Tydd St Giles Golf & Country Club has grown in to something much greater than we could have possibly imagined when I started it in the late 1980s, early 1990s on an agricultural site. It is now a multi-million-pound golf and leisure homes complex.

“The investment by Pure Leisure Group, which now fully owns the business, was a vital part of its success, which I am so thoroughly proud of.

“Pure Leisure Group introduced holiday lodges in 2008 and put Tydd St Giles Golf & Country Club firmly on the UK map as a holiday destination resort.

“There are now more than 70 holiday lodges around the site with stunning views across the golf course and countryside, which are used by golfers, fitness club goers and holiday makers alike.”

Further investment also led to the launch of a £2 million leisure complex in 2013, featuring a heated indoor pool with a coco jet machine, steam room and sauna, as well as a fully air-conditioned fitness suite, Café Revive and Stables Bar and Restaurant.

“The project continues to go from strength to strength employing around 50 staff and provides many benefits for the local community,” Mr Hurst added.

“I would like to say a huge ‘thank you’ to everyone who has been involved in helping to make Tydd St Giles Golf & Country Club what it is today after 21 years in business.

“I’d like to thank the hardworking staff members at the complex, Tydd St Giles Village & Parish Council Leader Rex Mallet and his family and his many colleagues for their unreserved support, all of the team at Fenland District Council past and present, as well as our local traders, UK and international traders, service providers and suppliers.

“I would also like to thank our wonderful, loyal customers old and new.

“We sincerely wish the directors of Pure Leisure Group and Tydd St Giles Golf & Golf & Country Club the very best for a great future.

“It is an exciting time for my family and I as we now look forward to other life opportunities in the future.”
