A 15-year-old boy has been arrested after police were called to a "person with a weapon" in a Cambridgeshire shopping centre.

Police received a report of a person with a weapon in Queensgate Shopping Centre in Peterborough at around 3pm yesterday (Sunday August 23).

Officers rushed to the scene and there were reports that armed police were in attendance.

A spokesperson for the force said: "A 15-year-old boy, from Peterborough, was arrested on suspicion of possession of an imitation firearm."

The boy has been bailed until November 23.
