An inquest into the death of a missing man whose bones were found in a field near Wisbech has concluded.
The remains of Sergei Voitechovic, a 34-year-old who had been missing since 2018, were discovered on May 18, 2025, in a field off Lynn Road, Walton Highway, near Wisbech.
An inquest into Mr Voitechovic's death was held at Norfolk Coroner’s Court on August 14.
Mr Voitechovic was born on August 11, 1990, in Lithuania, and had no history of employment or usual address identified.
He had resided in the UK from 2015 until 2017 with periods in and out of the United Kingdom thereafter.
He is confirmed to have returned to the United Kingdom on July 11, 2018.
The court heard that he had struggled with drug use and gambling, leading to the breakdown of his relationship with his former partner, Agatha Parausete, in 2018.
After Mr Voitechovic went missing, his sister Anna reported him to Cambridgeshire Constabulary on October 13, 2018.
Neighbours at the time believed he had returned to Lithuania.
The court heard that the remains were found by a member of the public in a field known as Richardson Bambers, which had been regularly ploughed and cultivated between 2015 and 2024.
A wallet containing old photographs and a sock containing what appeared to be human bones were found at the scene.
Post-mortem testing confirmed they belonged to Sergei Voitechovic.
Detective Sergeant Melanie Reid told the court that police found no evidence of third-party involvement in Mr Voitechovic's death.
The remains were identified through DNA testing.
In her narrative conclusion, assistant coroner Maeve Sykes expressed her condolences to Mr Voitechovic's family and friends.
She said it was clear that Sergei was a much-loved son and brother who had his own difficulties which he was trying to work through on his return to the UK on July 11, 2018, shortly after he became a missing person.
Ms Sykes added she can only imagine the anguish this has caused her family over the number of years before his remains were identified.
Due to the condition and incomplete nature of the remains, the medical cause of death was recorded as unascertained.
